Jens Hansen, a Washington Island, Wisconsin native, has a vision of transforming old log structures into new log homes, with the timeless majestic beauty of natural logs, and as many modern features and conveniences as you desire.

These log homes were hand-hewn by Wisconsin's first settlers out of virgin forest wood. White pine, white cedar, spruce, ash, and oak are the prevalent species of the area. Jens has been handcrafting these homes for select individuals and now offers his services to the public. He is a master mason, building fireplaces and stone accents on his works. Jens' fireplaces, made with local stone, beautifully complement the natural beauty of a vintage log home. His carpentry skills re-building the log structure are meticulously performed, and he is involved every step of the way.

Jens works with owners to insure that their vision is present in the final product.  His wealth of construction experience expands the possibilities to include frame homes with log siding and frame with conventional siding.

Hansen log homes are not only artful and functional, but also historical.  If the original structure was built mid-19th century, those logs began as trees nearly 250 years ago!  Imagine living in a log home - the materials around you were growing while the inhabitants of this land were Native Americans and French explorers.  You can admire the craftsmanship of carpenters past and present, and be a part of restoring and reclaiming your own piece of Midwestern history.

Jens will be happy to meet with you to show you some of his work and discuss your dream log home.  Call (920) 847-2007 or email jhansen@dcwis.com.
